A lot of naturally talented horses can get away with just being fast for a while. But if they never learn basic body control, those little holes eventually start showing up.
Blown turns. Dropped shoulders. Inconsistency. Anxiety. Leaving barrels flat.
Most of the time, those problems don’t get fixed by asking them to go faster.
Some horses have the basic body control and proper foundation on the pattern, but too much speed work can create even bigger problems depending on the horse. Slow work gives them a chance to learn, correct mistakes, and figure out how to use their bodies properly before speed and pressure get added. It’s where they build strength, confidence, balance, and understanding.
The goal isn’t just to make one fast, flashy run. It’s to build a horse that’s confident, correct, and consistent for the long haul.
I’ve learned that sometimes slowing down and going back to the basics isn’t taking a step backward at all. It’s exactly what helps them move forward.

After 7+ years in business, countless miles, perfecting my craft, and horses that have shaped me as much as I’ve shaped them, my program has naturally evolved into specializing in barrel horses. Over the years I’ve focused on refining the details that truly matter: confidence, understanding, and longevity over quick results.
At Send It Performance Horses, every program is individualized. No two horses are the same, and training is tailored to each horse’s mindset, ability, and goals. This is not a cookie cutter program. The focus is not only on speed, but on mental soundness, confidence, and longevity so horses stay happy, willing, and competitive for the long term.
I’m excited to now offer even more for my clients, including discounted bodywork and hauling opportunities to help horses progress both physically and mentally outside the arena.
