🎆 Fireworks are fun. Fireworks tickets are not. 🎆

Nobody enjoys a good fireworks show more than we do, but we also know not everyone loves hearing them late at night. Out of respect for your neighbors, pets, young kids, veterans, shift workers, and everyone else who enjoys a little peace and quiet, please follow the City of Norfolk fireworks ordinance.

✅ Fireworks may be discharged:
June 25 through July 3
🕙 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
July 4
🕗 8:00 a.m. to midnight

That gives everyone 12 hours a day to enjoy fireworks before July 4, which is more than enough time to celebrate safely and responsibly.

The discharge dates and times are posted at every fireworks stand, and the City has already provided public information on the rules. The Norfolk Police Division will also be doing our part to help gain compliance.

Last year, officers responded to 123 fireworks-related complaints during the fireworks season. This year, we hope to be more proactive with education and enforcement. When people are clearly out of line or blatantly ignoring the ordinance, citations may be issued.

And here is the part nobody likes: court costs are increasing from $49 to $95. That is a lot of fireworks money that could be spent on celebrating instead of paying a fine and court costs.

So please, have fun, be safe, be respectful, and light fireworks only during the allowed times.
