Back in the 90s, In Living Color wasn’t just a TV show—it was a cultural moment. It gave us laughter, creativity, and a stage for Black talent to shine unapologetically. For many of us, it was late nights with family, nostalgia wrapped in comedy, and a celebration of who we are.
Fast forward to today, and that same energy lives on at our HBCUs. Just like In Living Color opened doors for expression, Not Your Typical Homecoming (NYTHC) has become the stage where Spartan culture takes center stage and pride of our University is showcased welcome to Homecoming season.
On Friday after the yard The Assembly Building becomes our living room, the rooftop gives us breathtaking city views, and each floor brings festival-style music with multiple DJs. It’s a celebration of culture, community, and creativity.

The stage is set—Homecoming Week, October 20–26, 2025, will be nothing short of legendary. This year we return to Norfolk ready to write another unforgettable chapter in our history.
So much has changed since we last gathered in 2024 We proudly welcome our new head coach, , and assistant head coach , as they usher in a bold new era of Spartan football. The excitement on campus, across the city, and throughout Spartan Nation is undeniable—this is the year everyone is talking about.
Across the country, the rise of HBCUs into mainstream culture is one to admire, and Norfolk State University continues to stand at the forefront of that movement. This isn’t just Homecoming—it’s a cultural statement, a celebration of our impact, and a showcase of the power of the green and gold.
As we honor 90 Years of Spartan Legacy and 50 Years of —from the past to the future— we embrace our heritage, celebrate our excellence, and look boldly toward the future.
From Alumni to students to the community that surrounds us, October 20–26 will be a Homecoming to remember— a week of unity, culture, and Spartan pride that will echo for generations.
