Evolving Beyond Verbal Processing: Discovering New Ways to Heal and Cope.
A lot of people with ADHD are verbal processors. We need to talk things outânot because we love the sound of our own voice, but because it helps us declutter our minds and make sense of our emotions. Itâs how we find understanding in the midst of mental chaos.
Unfortunately, this can sometimes be misinterpreted. We might be seen as âyappersâ or self-indulgent, when in reality, weâre just trying to find peace in the storm inside our heads.
Last week, I was reminded of this very thing. Life threw some unexpected turbulence my way, and I found myself instinctively reaching for that verbal outlet. But as I looked around, I realized how much my circle has changed. Over the last couple of years, as Iâve grown and evolved, the people I once turned to in times like these have become fewer.
And yetâsomething profound happened. Instead of spiraling in the need to talk it all out, I leaned into the tools Iâve gathered along my journey. Breathwork, Reiki, and mindfulnessâthese practices helped me calm the chaos, sort through the clutter, and find clarity.
It was a powerful reminder: while verbal processing is valid and necessary at times, I donât always have to rely on it. I have everything I need within me. And so do you.
If youâre someone who processes verbally, honor that part of yourselfâbut also know that there are many ways to find clarity. The more tools we have, the more resilient we become.
Have you ever noticed this in yourself? What are the tools that help you find peace when your mind feels overwhelmed? Letâs start a conversation. đ

Growing up with ADHD, I was that kid who couldnât sit stillâalways up to sharpen a pencil, grab water, or ask a question. In 5th grade, my teacher gave my parents an ultimatum: get her diagnosed or hold her back. At a young age, I was labeled, medicated, and left wondering why I couldnât just be ânormal.â
The medication was a rollercoasterâtoo little didnât work, too much left me a zombie. It wasnât until I discovered martial arts that everything changed. The discipline, structure, and breathing helped me focus and build self-esteem after years of ridicule and struggle. It was my turning point.
Now, as a mom to an 8-year-old who also has ADHD, my heart breaks knowing his journey wonât be easy. But this time, Iâm equipped. Together, weâre navigating with consistency, sleep, supplementation, and Reiki. He even asks for Reiki now and wants to learn it himself, which has been a powerful reminder of how energy work and simple techniques like breathwork can calm the nervous system.
My journey has inspired me to help othersâkids and adults alikeâwho are navigating ADHD and neurodivergence. I want to share tools for healing, regulation, and self-mastery, so no one has to feel as lost as I once did.
