VFW Post 454 in Bloomington is inviting the public to help place flags on the graves of military veterans ahead of the Memorial Day weekend. Your help in collecting the flags after Memorial Day is also greatly appreciated. Here are the dates and locations:

Thursday, May 21st
8:00 am at East Lawn Memorial Gardens
8:00 am at St. Mary's, then moving to St. Joseph's, and ending at Holy Cross
8:30 am at Park Hill Cemetery across from Miller Park.

We’re inviting all active service members & veterans to enjoy a FREE sandwich every day next week on their designated military branch day as our way of saying, "Thanks For Your Service!"

We want to wish everyone a happy Veterans Day. We had the privilege of representing AMVETS Post 270 at the Heartland Community College’s Veterans Day Ceremony and want to thank everyone who came out and showed support for our veterans yesterday and today! ❤️🤍💙

As a nation, we are seeing a crisis with the SNAP program for those in need. HY-Vee has a great program to help children get the proper nutrition during this government shutdown. For $3, they can get a nice warm meal. As a community, we can help these kids by donating those three dollars at Hy-Vee so they don't have to pay anything. I went ahead and donated 33 meals today, and I'm asking everyone to donate what you can. As a Veteran, this is a great way to thank all Veterans for their service.
