What an amazing survival by that phone! š
If youāre a busy parent of preschool or elementary aged kiddos, I can help you survive and thrive this summer as well! Be sure to follow me for easy, engaging activities, book suggestions and family connection tips.
Summer days disappear so fast!
But they can also run one into the other and then nothing stands out.
Adding in what I call āTiny Tuesday Ritualsā can help stop that and make even the ordinary feel special.
So hereās your sign to celebrate:
šhelping a sibling
štrying something new
špracticing math for 15 minutes
šdecluttering a room
Another great source of inspiration is celebrating National Days. For example, did you know that today (June 16) is not only National Fudge Day but also Fresh Veggies Day (add a protein and I think I just planned your dinner! š)
Itās also World Sea Turtle Day! But whatever and however you decide to celebrate can be totally up to you. For more ways to make memories on purpose with your family, be sure to hit that follow button. š
Itās super easy to get your hands on some great free printables that will help keep the boredom away for your preschool and elementary aged kiddos this summerāthey are all added to my Substack subscriber chat! Most weeks, I create a printable to go with the weekās article. So far, weāve done a Bingo style board of easy activities and a companion printable for one of my favorite ideas, themed summer baskets. You get these plus the new ones each week when you become a Substack subscriber! Iād love to know - are you on Substack yet?
Can you relate? If you can šš»
Look, Iāve been thereā¦
Your kids canāt WAIT for school to be outā¦
They are excited to sleep in and have fun summer adventures!
But, now, itās just a few weeks in, and theyāve already played all the games, eaten all the snacks, and said āIām boredā 97 times just today.
Thatās where I come in. Iāve put together a free handout that includes lots of different ideas to keep your kids happy and entertained all summer. Just comment āSUMMERā and Iāll send you the details.
Welcome to my new series Tiny Tuesday rituals!
On Substack this week, I talked about how my passion for family connection started when one random Tuesday my stepson suggested we try something new and it turned into a ritual we called āTry-It Tuesdays.ā
That post lead me to thinking about how we can make regular days special. So for the next few weeks, each Tuesday I will share a tiny ritual you can try with your family. Be sure to hit that follow button so you donāt miss any!
Screen free summer afternoons do NOT have to mean big plans or big prep.
You can use my low prep summer bucket ideas so the kids have something to do, and you donāt have to spend all day planning and prepping activities.
A quick note that got cut from the video: Yes, I could have gone to the store and bought cute matching baskets to make it more aesthetic, but around here sustainability wins the day. I already had these three baskets (2 extra ones from Easter and 1 from my Motherās Day flowers) and using what you already have is always going to be a better choice for the š.
I wrote a longer piece about this on Substack. If you subscribe there, youāll get my free printable list of basket fillers as a thank you! You can comment āBUCKETSā for the link. š
