AC Corcoran Elementary

Look who is new to our A. C. Corcoran family.

Mrs. Shawn Wimmer earned her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Mercer University and later completed a Master of Education in Educational Leadership and Administration through The Citadel Graduate College.

Throughout her career, Mrs. Wimmer has served students and families in a variety of roles, including classroom teacher, assistant principal, principal, and instructional leader. Her experience spans grades 3–5 and includes extensive work in Title I schools as well as supporting students in a variety of special education settings.

Although she has held leadership positions throughout her career, her favorite place has always been the classroom. She believes teaching is both a privilege and a calling, and she is thrilled to work directly with students each day.

Outside of school, Mrs. Wimmer is married to her high school sweetheart and treasures time spent with family. She is the proud grandmother of three grandsons who have her whole heart and shares her home with four beloved furry friends. When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending time with family, cheering on her grandsons, and making memories with those she loves most.

Mrs. Wimmer looks forward to building strong relationships with the AC Corcoran family and is excited for a wonderful school year ahead.

Allison Rouse will be joing our wonderful administration team as our new Assistant Principal.

I was born an raised in Mt. Pleasant, SC. I graduated from Wando High School. I received my BA from Winthrop University and both my Master’s from Columbia College. I have been in education in CCSD for 17 years where I taught 2nd and 4th grade and served as Instructional Coach, Lead teacher, and Assistant Principal. In my spare time I enjoy playing with my dog Tony, going to the beach, and spending time with family.

I am excited to serve the staff, students, and families of AC Corcoran Elementary!

Ms. Victoria Thomas will be joing our Multilingual Learners (ML) teachers and she will be working with our ML students.

I am entering my 10th year as a multilingual learner (ML) teacher and am excited to be back in elementary school, where I began my career in the ML field. I love teaching because it gives me the opportunity to learn, grow, and share alongside my students. Before becoming a teacher, I worked as a public policy analyst for the U.S. Senate. I also advocated for small business owners and other companies. The skills I gained in those roles have helped me identify and support my students' needs, enabling them to grow both emotionally and academically. I am also the mother of two children who recently graduated from college. In my free time, I enjoy going to the beach, taking walks, attending Barre classes, and
cooking.
