I joyfully spent the weekend learning to combine my skills as a massage therapist and lactation consultant this weekend learning infant CST!

Bodywork and babies go hand-in-hand. While birth is a natural process, living in a restrictive womb and being born can put lots of stress on a baby’s body. Add in restrictive swaddles, seats and containers - babies are not moving to their fullest. Cranial Sacral Therapy combines gentle stretching and light touch to help release tension and stress in the body to allow full function of all the systems.


* Stimulating nerves 
CST can help normalize the baby’s central nervous system. 


* Releasing tension 
CST can help relieve tension and stiffness in the baby’s oral reflexes, neck, and shoulders. This can help with breastfeeding and latching, as well as other feeding issues. 

* Promoting healing 
CST can help release restrictions in the muscles and fascial tissues, which can promote healing and alleviate stress.

* Improving circulation 
CST can help improve the flow of cerebrospinal fluid, which can help remove blockages and restore the body’s natural ability to heal.

I am excited to incorporate CST in to my lactation consults, as well as offer stand alone sessions for infants and toddlers. I will be offering some free sessions as a hone my skills and find how CST will best fit into my practice
