Seed snails have become my go to way to start seeds. They are fast and easy, require no special equipment, take up very little space and can be customized to any size.
I can fit many snails onto a tray, and move them around as they germinate and their light and heat needs change. They work particularly well indoors as they can be bottom watered.
They work as a way to germinate seeds and pot them on, or to seed them in their ideal plant spacing and then just roll them right out into the ground.
