Restoring Your Innate Capacity for Health
01/26/2024
Join us at noon ET today, Friday, January 12th, for “Harnessing Your Power To Heal: OCC’s Components of Care.”
We’ll take you through the different components of care that our programs integrate, why we have each component, why we sequence our programs in a particular order, and how, together, our programs awaken your innate capacity to heal.
To watch today (or in the future!) simply go to our page or YouTube channel at noon, Eastern Time.
See you there!
On Friday, we got asked a question that Jessica - who couldn't join us - has a more nuanced and specific response to!
The question was: Do you evaluate for retained primitive reflexes or hemispheric imbalance as part of the nervous system regulation program?
Here's Jess's answer:
As my colleagues mentioned, OCC certainly believes in making the most of our 20% efferent vagal fibers, but we understand and capitalize on the 80% afferent vagal fibers that make a body-up approach necessary for our Members. While we don't do any testing for hemispheric imbalance or retained primitive reflexes, I understand that the origin of such issues likely resides in having a lot of dorsal vagal activation for survival on board. We understand that employing dorsal vagal survival strategies once served each of our Members very well, but it is generally not highly adaptive any longer, and is often a significant part of what is inhibiting the healing each of our Members is seeking. The ways we help our Members build autonomic flexibility during their memberships optimize people's healing capacity and trajectory, and it is my belief that there would not be much, if any, added benefit to having those test results as part of our program. Thanks for asking!
