"More people in the United States are going hungry now than during the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic six years ago.

A survey released Wednesday by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York found higher levels of food insecurity this year than during the summer of 2020, when the coronavirus outbreak sparked double-digit unemployment."

More people are going hungry now than at the height of the pandemic Food insecurity affects more families now than during the coronavirus pandemic, according to a new survey from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

"In the first seven months after Congress passed the biggest cuts in the history of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program last summer, the number of people in the U.S. receiving food assistance through the program fell by more than 3.5 million."
