Holy Cross Mission Center

The Holy Cross Mission Center is pleased to share that 15 men made their First Profession in Bangladesh this past October. Five were from St. Joseph Province and 10 from Sacred Heart of Jesus Province.

Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Patroness of Chile. In celebration, many people make pilgrimages to shrines, such as the Cathedral of Santiago (pictured here).

Today, Tanzania celebrates Saba Saba Day, literally translated as "Seven Seven" in Swahili. Named for the day and month it occurs, Saba Saba Day serves as a celebration of the founding of the political party that led the country to independence from British rule.

As our American partners celebrate the 250th anniversary of Independence Day, we in the HCMC are reminded of the universal call to use our freedom for holiness, that is union with God. In the words of our Congregation's founder, Blessed Basil Moreau (C.S.C.):

“If God has given me a mind, it is so that I may know Him. If He has given me a heart free to love, it is so that I may attach myself to Him. If He has given me limbs, health, and strength, it is so that I may use them in His strength and service. If I am all that I am, it is only for Him and I must strive unceasingly towards Him as my own center.”
