Bad news this morning: another water outage impacting Novi residents.

To be clear, this break occurred outside the City of Novi on infrastructure owned and operated by the Great Lakes Water Authority. While it affects our residents, the City does not operate or maintain that system. Our level of control over it is similar to our control over the Michigan Department of Transportation and what happens on Interstate 96 in Brighton — we can push for answers, but we don’t run the infrastructure.

That said, the number of disruptions we’ve seen recently is not acceptable. Novi residents pay significant water rates and deserve reliable service. We have brought GLWA leadership before City Council and established a Public Utilities Committee to strengthen oversight and accountability.

I promise we will continue to do everything we can within our authority to push for answers and improvements.

Great to welcome everyone to Novi last week for the 2026 Japanese Job Fair alongside my friend, Consulate General Kishimori. Proud that the City of Novi could once again host this growing event and help foster new connections and lasting relationships.
