The mysterious disappearance of
Ayinde Bakare in 1972:
Saibu Ayinde Bakare. The popular Juju musician disappeared exactly 51 years ago.
He was born in 1912 in Lagos, but his father was from the Balogun Ajikobi family of Ilorin, and for 37 years, he entertained a cross-section of fans everywhere.
It was Sunday, October 1, 1972 and Ayinde Bakare and his Band had a day gig at a wedding event at Isale-Gangan area of Lagos Island and were also billed for a night engagement at Ijebu-Ode. As was usually the case, some members of the Band had gone ahead to Ijebu-Ode to set up for the evening event while the Lagos show was going on.
It was while the Band was on break that the unthinkable happened. It was believed that Ayinde Bakare retreated to the backstage during the break when some unknown persons reportedly invited him for some discussions away from his Band members, and he was never seen again.
Some initially thought that he had left with a woman for an amorous hook-up when he did not come back after the break, and his deputy, Ayanniyi Atanda, took over the leadership, and they completed the gig.
When he did not come back, some thought he had gone ahead to Ijebu Ode, only to get there and not find him there. All efforts to locate him proved fruitless until a few days later.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, 4th October 1972, the police had found a body floating on the Lagos Lagoon near Bonny Camp in Victoria Island, and the police who found the body were unable to connect the body they had found with the missing musician.
The body was dumped among other unclaimed bodies and was given a mass burial by the Lagos City Council at the Atan Cemetery.

In 2014, a girl from the Maldives became famous worldwide because people loved her beautiful photos, especially her blue eyes.
Her name was Raudha, and while she loved modeling, her bigger dream was to become a doctor like her father.
Sadly, at 21, while studying in Bangladesh, the tragic happened.
Raudha was born in 1996 in the Maldives. Her family didn’t make her wear traditional clothes or a hijab, and they supported her modeling. Though she liked modeling, she focused on studying medicine. She got a scholarship to study in Bangladesh, a Muslim country with strict dress codes. Raudha wore traditional clothes at college but still drew attention for her charm and beauty.
At 18, she did a photoshoot, and the pictures went viral because of her rare beauty. She got many modeling offers and even appeared on the cover of Vogue India in 2016. Some people criticized her for not following Islamic values, but she kept modeling while studying medicine.
In March 2017, Raudha was found lifeless in her dorm room. Her friend Seerat found her hanging from a fan. The police said she took her own life after a breakup with her boyfriend. They found messages where Raudha said she felt empty and heartbroken.
However, many people, including her parents, couldn’t believe she took her own life. There were strange details about the case, like the fan possibly not being strong enough to support her weight, and the door not showing signs of being broken. Her father, a doctor, thinks Raudha might have been harmed by someone, possibly Seerat, due to jealousy.
A week before her demise, Raudha told her mother she thought a friend had put something in her drink to make her sleepy. Her brother, Rayyan, also doesn’t believe she would take her own life, saying she was always happy and full of life.
After Raudha’s demise, her Instagram account was unfollowing people and was later deleted, raising more questions. When 60 Minutes Australia tried to investigate in Bangladesh, they faced problems and were stopped by authorities, leading to suspicions about what might be hidden in Raudha’s case."

A Japanese man named Yasuo Takamatsu, who is 67 years old, is still searching for his wife, Yuko, who went missing after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. In her last text to him, Yuko wrote, "I want to go home."
Since then, Takamatsu has dived more than 650 times in the area where Yuko disappeared, hoping to find her.
Takamatsu and Yuko married in 1988 and lived in a town called Onagawa, near Sendai. They had a son and a daughter. On March 11, 2011, a huge earthquake and tsunami hit Japan. Takamatsu was driving back home after dropping his mother-in-law at the hospital, so he was safe.
His children, who were at school, also survived, but Yuko did not. She was working in a bank at the time. Even though Yuko and other employees tried to escape by going to the roof, a giant wave more than 15 meters high washed them away.
Eight people, including Yuko, were never found.
Yuko had sent her husband a final message, asking if he was okay and saying she wanted to go home.
Two years later, rescuers found her phone, which still worked, and on it was an unsent message: "The tsunami is huge." Takamatsu couldn’t imagine how scared she must have been, and he decided to search for her.
After retiring as a bus driver, Takamatsu learned to scuba dive in 2014 and has been searching ever since. He knows he won’t find Yuko alive but wants to bring even a part of her home.
He continues his search, saying, "Let’s go home together," as if she can hear him.
The 2011 Great Tohoku Earthquake caused 19,759 demises, and more than 2,500 people, like Yuko, are still missing.
