Look who is back in our rescue! Due to a family health issue, Rudy and Peanut are back with New Beginnings and are ready to find their forever, forever home!
New Beginnings Shih Tzu Rescue is located in foster homes throughout WISCONSIN and ILLINOIS. Rudy and Peanut are being fostered in ILLINOIS.
Rudy (6 yrs, 8 lb imperial Shih Tzu) and Peanut (5 yrs, 4 lb imperial Shih Tzu) are completely inseparable. Where Rudy goes, Peanut follows. Where Peanut settles, Rudy is already curling up beside him. They nap cuddled together, wander the house side-by-side, and check in with each other constantly. If one disappears from view, the other will search the house until they’re reunited. They even soothe each other by gently licking faces and sucking on each other’s ears.
These boys came from a backyard breeder/hoarding situation and were severely matted when they entered rescue. Since then, they’ve been shaved down, cleaned up, and have truly blossomed in foster care. You can tell they feel safe now — and their personalities are shining more each day.
Personality & Daily Life
They are the perfect balance of playful and chill. They enjoy going for walks, love toys, and then are more than happy to curl up next to you for a long nap. They’re not high-energy, but they do enjoy exploring and being part of whatever you’re doing.
Rudy
Rudy is pure love in dog form. He is deeply attached to his humans and wants to be wherever you are at all times — kitchen, bathroom, couch, you name it. He’s been described as a “stage 100 clinger,” a barnacle, your literal shadow. If you’re looking for a dog who will adore you endlessly and never leave your side, Rudy is your guy. He does have some separation anxiety, he may cry for about 5–10 minutes when you leave, but he settles and relaxes afterward. He also, as we've mentioned, wants to follow you everywhere you go.
Peanut
Peanut is much more emotionally anchored to Rudy than to people. His comfort and confidence come from his brother, and he truly needs to be able to see Rudy at all times. While he isn’t as attention-seeking with humans, he absolutely enjoys cuddling up next to you (especially if Rudy is there too) and soaking up the warmth and comfort.
Potty Training
• Both are now 100% potty trained in their foster home
• Early photos with diapers were just during their adjustment period
Ideal Home
Because of their tiny size and strong bond, they have a few important needs:
• A VERY secure yard — Peanut is so small he could slip through wrought iron or under gaps. Puppy pickets, garden fencing, or supervised leash potty breaks are great solutions
• A home with someone around most of the time
• An adopter who is steady on their feet (they are little and always nearby!)
• An experienced dog family committed to keeping them together.
These boys have already been through so much, but you would never know it from how much love they have to give. They are gentle, affectionate, funny, playful and will make the best companions.
If you’re ready for double the cuddles, double the loyalty, and a once-in-a-lifetime bond, Rudy & Peanut are waiting for you.

Introducing... Handsome! Yes, that`s his name and after his grooming we can see why! ??
Handsome is an 8 year old full sized Golden Doodle who`s quite the gentleman. He`s house trained, crate trained, loves car rides, knows several commands and gets along well with other dogs. Fun fact, Handsome loves to howl with firetruck sirens! Don`t let his age fool you, he`s an enthusiastic lover of walks, playing catch and enjoying his toys! A quieter home with someone around most of the time is what he`s originally used to. That being said he`s adapted well to his foster home and a busier family lifestyle. UPDATE: ADOPTED!!!
Hi, I’m Nala. ❤️
This handsome boy beside me is my brother, Maxx.
For the last 7 years, we’ve shared everything(Maxx is 7 & I’m 10)—our home, our toys, our naps, and most importantly, the love of the mom who cherished us. We thought our lives would always be the same.
Then life changed.
Our mom became very ill, and through tears, she made the heartbreaking decision to let us go so we could have the care she could no longer give. She didn’t stop loving us… she loved us enough to put our needs before her own.
Now we’re waiting for someone to open their heart to both of us.
Please don’t let the number “10” fool you. We still have so much life ahead of us. We love leisurely walks, soft beds, cozy naps, and nothing makes us happier than curling up beside our people. Our foster mom and dad say we’re the easiest fosters they’ve ever welcomed into their home. We’re housebroken, well-mannered, quiet, and happiest simply being near the people we love.
We’ve already experienced the heartbreak of saying goodbye to the only home we’ve ever known.
Please don’t let us experience the heartbreak of losing each other, too.
If you’re looking for unconditional love, gentle companionship, and two grateful little souls who will adore you every single day, we’d love the chance to become part of your family.
Love,
Nala & Maxx ❤️
