Oak Lawn Public Library - Local History

The demolition of buildings on the 5200 block of 95th Street, between Cook Avenue (left) and 53rd Avenue (right) in 2004. The entire block was then redeveloped in 2006. The 5251 office building, on the southwest corner of 95th Street and Cook Avenue and Veli's Kofy Kup at 5253 West 95th Street, are still standing. The large empty space in the background in the right of the photograph is the site where Cook School, located at 9526 South Cook Avenue, once stood. The Prairie Town Center condominium development was eventually built on the old school site.
