While helping more than 300 families navigate public school systems in the Boston area, our Navigators noticed an alarming pattern: Over and over, bureaucratic delays and red tape prevented them from accessing the special education evaluations and supports their children were owed. After carefully documenting these issues, we found that 1 in 4 families encountered a policy compliance failure that delayed their child's special education support for as long as 3-6 months—and sometimes, even kept their child out of school entirely.
