Chihuahua mix health problems: what the data shows

Dutch analyzed two years of its own telehealth data across Chihuahua mixes to see what actually brings these dogs to the vet. Flea and tick concerns, allergies, and anxiety top the list.

Flea and tick is the single biggest finding in Dutch's data, showing up at 1.61 times the all-dog rate, the largest over-index in the report. Bravecto leads the prescribing data at 34.6% of flea and tick consults, followed by Simparica Trio at 16.4%.

Anxiety is the most distinctive behavioral pattern in Dutch's data, appearing at 1.29 times the all-dog rate. The prescribing picture is layered: fluoxetine (39.1% of anxiety consults) builds a chronic baseline, while gabapentin (36.6%) and trazodone (32.6%) handle situational triggers like storms, car rides, or vet visits.

Dental issues also stand out, over-indexing at 2.92 times, a classic small-dog pattern.
