Engineering a brighter future for diverse communities...

What an incredible example of community in action! ❀️

After sharing that The Social Engineering Project needed 40 laptops for our Science in the City Summer STEM Camp, Rhonda Rochon Smith connected me with her sister, Pastor Marlyn Bussey, and her husband, Michael Bussey, of St. James AME Zion Church in San Mateo.

Because of their generosity, our students now have 40 Chromebooks for this summer’s camp! πŸŽ‰

These laptops will help our middle school students explore AI and vibe coding during their week at SLAC National Laboratory.

Thank you, Rhonda, Pastor Bussey, Michael, and the entire St. James AME Zion Church family, for believing in our mission and investing in the next generation of innovators. We are incredibly grateful!

πŸ™ A Heartfelt Thank You & A Big Ask from Science In The City!

Years ago, when our organization needed support most, Lena Robinson of First Republic Bank stepped up in a meaningful way β€” donating laptops to Science In The City during the height of the pandemic. That generosity kept our programs alive when so much was uncertain, and we've never forgotten it. Thank you, Lena. πŸ’™

Fast forward to today, and we're gearing up for our Summer STEM Camp β€” Science In The City's Summer STEM Camp β€” launching this summer! We're hosting hands-on workshops in vibe coding and AI, designed to spark curiosity and open doors for the next generation of innovators.

But here's where we need YOUR help. πŸ’»

We're looking to source approximately 40 laptops or PCs by July 1st. If your company is upgrading equipment, or if you or a colleague have devices sitting unused, please consider donating them to us!

I'm reaching out to companies, colleagues, and friends who may have:
βœ… Surplus or decommissioned PCs
βœ… Laptops from recent equipment upgrades
βœ… Any functional devices that could be repurposed for education

Every laptop donated puts powerful tools directly into the hands of young learners who are ready to build, create, and code. Your donated device could be the reason a young person discovers a love for technology this summer.

πŸ“© Please DM me, tag someone who can help, or share this post to get the word out. Together, we can make this the best summer yet for our students!
