Hyphae Design Laboratory
Bridging the gap between health and the built environment Hyphae Design Laboratory focuses on ecological solutions to land and water use and reuse.
WE'RE HIRING!!
We're on the lookout for a CAD/GIS Mapping Specialist who's as enthusiastic about mission-driven work as we are.
This isn't your typical mapping role – at Hyphae you'll bridge design, data, and environmental justice every day to help create healthier, more connected communities. If you're fluent in AutoCAD and QGIS and love weaving data into design (and vice versa), let's talk.
This is a hybrid position (Bay Area or Philly preferred, open to remote). Join us in tackling complex urban ecology challenges with rigor and community vision!

Big News for a Greener, Safer, and Healthier Texas!
The Texas Trees Foundation is thrilled to announce a $25 million investment from the State of Texas to support the Southwestern Medical District Transformation Project – a visionary public-private initiative to reimagine over two miles of the Harry Hines Corridor in the heart of Dallas’s medical district.
Thanks to legislative champions like State Senator Royce West, Representative Rafael Anchía, Senator Tan Parker, Representatives Morgan Meyer and Angie Chen Button, State Representative Venton Jones and others, this funding accelerates a bold plan to:
Advance critical infrastructure
Combat urban heat with 4,000+ trees
Enhance public health and safety
Create an 8-acre Green Park oasis
Deliver over $1.69 billion in economic impact
Together, we’re turning the Southwestern Medical District into a healthier, safer, and more economically thriving area with our partners at the City of Dallas - City Hall, Dallas County, North Central Texas Council of Governments, Southwestern Medical District, UT Southwestern Medical Center, Children's Medical Center Dallas, Parkland Health, Field Operations, Hyphae Design Laboratory, MIG, Kimley-Horn, Terrapin Bright Green, DRW Planning, and Rise360Consulting. This isn’t just an investment—it’s a game-changer for Dallas, and a model for the nation.

By September 2019, the Kutupalong refugee camp had become the largest refugee camp in the world, housing 600,000 people. To create housing in the camp complex, millions of poles of bamboo were harvested and then treated with solution to prevent pests and disease. The treatment of the bamboo being a crucial step in the construction process, we worked the IOM team at Kutupalong, Wicked Ops and dozens of refugees to design, build, commission and operate the world's largest bamboo pole treatment system to remove build-up of bamboo sap, rendering the treatment solution indefinitely recyclable.
The stills continues to this day and is in dire need of support.
