A recent study conducted in collaboration with Electronic Arts and Nintendo of America challenges concerns that excessive video game play can lead to addiction and poor mental health.

The study surveyed players of Plants vs. Zombies: Battle for Neighborville and Animal Crossing: New Horizons and analyzed their actual play behavior through telemetry data provided by the game companies.

Contrary to general belief, the study found a positive relationship between gameplay and mental well-being.

This research highlights the importance of collaborations between industry partners and scientists to provide reliable evidence on the impact of video games on mental health.

As research in this area continues to expand, policymakers will soon start seriously considering games as a way for people to improve their well-being.

A recent AARP Research study reveals that gamers aged 50-plus, totaling 52.4 million individuals, embrace playing video games.

The study examined their gaming habits, including devices, play frequency, satisfaction, and motivations. These gamers credit gaming with improving their mental sharpness and relaxation, with 45% playing daily and 77% believing gaming is an important aspect of healthy aging.

The study also found that older adults continued interest in gaming could lead to $2.5 billion in biannual spending on digital and physical game content, accessories, and hardware.
