to create communities of students who are setting and achieving their personal goals, inside and out

07/12/2026

During a small group breakout at the Branson School, young men sat with Ashanti Branch and were asked a direct question.

What qualities do you want in a friend?

The answers came quickly. Supporting. Easy to talk to. Non-judgmental. Accepting. Someone who shows up and is actually there for you.

They didn’t struggle to answer because they already know what real connection looks like.

That’s not the issue.

The issue is that many young men do not experience those qualities consistently in their daily lives. They learn to hold things in, to filter what they say, and to handle things on their own because they are not sure how their truth will be received.

Over time, that creates distance even when they are surrounded by people.

This is why building intentional spaces for connection matters. When young men are in environments where they can speak freely, be accepted, and trust the people around them, something shifts. Community becomes real. Support becomes consistent. Brotherhood becomes something they can rely on.

That is the purpose of the Young Men’s Conference 2026.

To create a space where the kind of connection young men say they need is not theoretical. It is experienced.
