Most of you know I love breakfast… but today I got to enjoy Japanese Breakfast. 😄

Maryann and I spent a beautiful afternoon at Stern Grove seeing Japanese Breakfast, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. But the biggest surprise of the day was the opening act, Leenalchi, making their North American debut. Their blend of South Korean alternative pop, traditional influences, and wonderfully quirky stage presence had the entire grove dancing within minutes.

The moment I saw them perform, I wasn’t the least bit surprised to learn that David Byrne had recently signed them. Creative, original, and impossible not to smile through.

Music under the redwoods, sunshine, great company, and discovering a fantastic new band… that’s a pretty perfect Sunday.
