One of the most unexpected parts of building Guardian programs around the world has been watching the kids connect with one another and our programs around the world.

Many of the communities we work in are small, and for a lot of these kids, opportunities to travel or meet people from different parts of the world can feel out of reach. Through Guardian, they’re not only training jiu jitsu, they’re seeing stories from other academies, cheering each other on, feeling seen themselves, and realizing they’re part of something much bigger than their own town.

Social media has become a bridge between our programs. Kids in Peru are following kids in Uganda. Students in Mongolia are seeing what’s happening in Mexico. They’re encouraging one another, sharing milestones, and beginning to imagine futures that extend far beyond where they grew up. Some may even one day travel to teach, train, or lead at another Guardian academy.

Our students may speak different languages, come from different cultures, and live thousands of miles apart, but when they see that same Guardian logo on another child or coach across the world, there’s an immediate sense of connection. It has created a feeling of unity, belonging, and hope that we never expected.

This project will bring jiu jitsu to a community that likely never would have had access to the sport otherwise. Our hope is that this academy becomes more than a place to train. We want it to be a seed that keeps growing, creating opportunity, building confidence, and changing lives for years to come.

Along with jiu jitsu, the academy will include a learning center, kitchen, bathrooms with running water, electricity, and a shower.
