Our thoughts and prayers are with Marion County Fire Rescue, Marion County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Adrian Lewis, and the Lewis family as they mourn the loss of Firefighter/EMT Evan Lewis.
Please keep all who loved him in your hearts during this difficult time.
-It is with profound sadness that Marion County Fire Rescue announces the passing of Firefighter/EMT Evan Lewis.
On Sunday, June 14, 2026, Evan was involved in a vehicle accident. Despite the tireless efforts of medical professionals and the unwavering support of his family, his injuries proved to be insurmountable.
As an organ donor, Evan's family made the courageous decision to honor his final wish to help others. On Thursday, June 18, 2026, family, friends, fellow firefighters, healthcare professionals, and members of the public safety community gathered at Orlando Regional Medical Center for an Honor Walk recognizing Evan's selfless gift of life. Surrounded by those who loved him most, Evan passed away following the ceremony.
“Evan dedicated his life to serving others,” said Fire Chief James Banta. “Even in the face of unimaginable tragedy, he continued that mission. In his last act of service, Evan saved multiple lives through his gifts as an organ donor. His compassion, dedication, and commitment to helping others will never be forgotten. We ask our community to keep Evan’s family, friends, and our Marion County Fire Rescue family in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”
Funeral and memorial service arrangements are currently being finalized in coordination with Evan’s family. Additional details will be shared as they become available. We respectfully ask for privacy and continued prayers for the Lewis family during this difficult time.
Please join us in honoring Evan’s life, service, and legacy. His watch may have ended, but the lives he touched, and the lives he saved, will continue because of his selfless final gift.
