Happy Mother’s Day! I didn’t make any desserts specifically for Mother’s Day this year, but I did make this cake for a wedding at yesterday.

I had full creative reign (such a gift!), and I think this is my favorite cake I’ve ever made. I was immediately obsessed with the bold jewel tones that the bride chose for the wedding palette, and I’m so grateful I was able to create such a unique, colorful wedding cake!

Congratulations, Stephanie and Rick! Everything was gorgeous. 🥹 I hope your special day was everything you ever dreamed of! 🥰

Bottom tier: lemon meringue cake (lemon cake with lemon cream, lemon curd, lemon buttercream, and toasted meringue)
Middle tier: blackberry swirled cake, brushed with blackberry coulis, filled with blackberry buttercream and blackberry mousse)
Top tier: vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream

Congrats on your engagement, Layla & Chris! 💍 These engagement cookies were done in champagne & white to match the engagement party colors, and they were as “simple-elegant” as I could manage. 😆

This was the last custom cookie order on my current schedule, believe it or not! I don’t have anymore custom cookie orders lined up at the moment. 😳

…But I’m totally ok with it! 😌

I know some bakers like to be completely booked up months and months (or years) in advance, and I definitely understand the financial allure.

But I actually PREFER to only be booked about ONE month in advance now!

It gives me a little more flexibility with my schedule/kids schedules, and I’m better able to gauge if I’m getting burnt out, so I can pencil in downtime before the burnout gets dire.

Or before it turns into me getting sick every two weeks. 😅🙃
