HILL OF FOUR SEASONS, acrylic on panel, 12 x 9 inches

Started this in my Let’s Paint class (next session starts May 5 - come join!), where we play with materials and look at “inspo pics” of amazing paintings and print-outs of reference pictures. This one is from a photo I came across online of the Shikisai-no-oka (Hill of Four Seasons) flower gardens in the town of Biei, Hokkaido, Japan.

I want to go to there. It looks like I’m taking crazy liberties with color but apparently it really is this wild. Another reminder that the world is much more psychedelic than we give it credit for….
