Pretty Sweet Baking

I’m still learning how to make more and more cake recipes from scratch graduating away from boxed mix. These German Chocolate cupcakes were a hit with the birthday girl who raved over their authentic taste. Praise God lol because they were little stinkers to make! I added just a touch of chocolate buttercream because the real star of the show is the coconut pecan frosting. ❤️

Did you know German Chocolate cake is actually named after creator Sam German? It was originally known as German’s Chocolate but eventually shortened to German Chocolate. This cake is special because it relies on actual melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder. Sam created the sweet baking chocolate for the Baker's chocolate company in Boston. That same chocolate is used to this day.
