RSVP: Leading With Experience

RSVP offers a full range of volunteer opportunities with thousands of local and national organizations. With RSVP, you choose how and where you want to serve. You choose the amount of time you want to give. And you choose whether you want to draw on your skills or develop new ones. In short, you find the opportunity that is right for you.

The U.S. Congress created the RSVP Program in 1969.

Federal funding for RSVP is provided by the amount set by Congress each year. In order to receive federal funding, sponsors are required to show local support in the form of matching funds. The federal agency which funds and regulates RSVP is the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS).

CNCS’s major service programs are AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps VISTA, and Senior Corps. The Senior Corps division consists of the RSVP Program, Senior Companion Program, and the Foster Grandparent Program.
