As Engineers Week comes to a close, we’re highlighting a project that reflects the role engineering plays in delivering essential services to rural communities.

Citizens Medical Center in Colby, Kansas, is a 184,000 SF, 25-bed critical access hospital designed to bring high-quality care closer to home in northwest Kansas.

Working alongside our partners at HFG Architecture, Farris Engineering provided full MEP, lighting, and fire protection engineering—designing systems that ensure reliability, efficiency, and continuous operation. From redundant HVAC systems to integrated controls and emergency power, the facility is built to perform—day in and day out.

In healthcare environments, performance isn’t optional—it’s critical. And behind every space designed for care is a system intentionally designed to support it.

Happy National Engineers Week! ⚙️🏢

Engineering is a team effort. We’re proud of the partnerships that make our work possible.

At Farris Engineering, being 100% employee-owned means our team is personally invested in every project and partnership. For nearly 60 years, we’ve collaborated closely with owners, architects, and contractors to deliver mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, and commissioning solutions that bring buildings to life.

This week, we’re recognizing the people behind the work: our team and the partners we work alongside every day.
