If you’re looking to build alternative systems the neighborhood level is a great place to start!
1) You can contribute to building neighborhood food systems by growing produce in your garden for weekly crop swaps at the Free Farm Stands June-Oct. Bring down excess produce from your garden and swap it out for something you don’t have! Stay tuned here for an April workshop that will cover the basics of safe harvesting for neighborhood crop swaps and tips on how to start one in your own neighborhood!
2) You can contribute to neighborhood food sovereignty by growing out local seed varieties for your local seed bank and local seed sharing. Follow for upcoming hands on workshops and seed shares. You can also find detailed seed saving information in the GROUNDWATER FARMERS ALMANAC AND SEED CATALOG.
3) If you don’t have garden space at home or even if you do, you can build skills and community by joining a collective garden. Stay tuned here for opportunities to get involved on Free Farm lots starting in April!
