Occupational Therapy students in Sam Troiaโs โAdaptive Technology & Modificationโ class are spending the summer learning how to design and fabricate custom adaptive devices for patients. About 40 of them recently shared their first open-sourced 3D printed devices and presented plans to improve them for patients with mobility, sight and learning challenges. โฃ

Weโll be following the class all summer as they push forward existing designs and engineer entirely new devices from scratch.โฃ

DIY is at the heart of OTโa career field thatโs all about building independence. Adding 3D printing in an OTโs toolbelt perfectly illustrates NMCโs focus on training creative, forward-thinking professionals to be advocates for their patients. โฃ

Walking the tightrope of a professional conflict is one of the hardest skills to master. In our COR 201 class, students recently practiced this balance during their Conflict Management dialogues. โฃ

For students at NMC, the poverty sim is a tone-setter. Throughout their education, they put insight into action through our community-based care model.โฃ

In 2025 alone, NMC students provided more than 15,000 hours of healthcare services to 16,000 patients through our Center for Health Partnerships. This hands-on work with community members instills a "heart set" and "mindset" that canโt be taught in a lab. โฃ
