There’s nothing more hauntingly beautiful than a Loon’s call. It’s like the heartbeat of the northern wilderness. They do have different sounds for unique purposes, and it’s so amazing to experience each one. This specific trip I heard three of their four primary calls; The first one being a “Hoot” when I first entered the water. This is a short, soft call between family when they’re close together. It made me smile so big, it was almost like they were saying “welcome back old friend”. It was how I initially located them. 🤍🖤

This guy. Tiny but fierce. Apparently he is the tough guy of the bunch! Taunted me all week, until finally he decided he’d let me take a couple photos.

There is just something about her.. so delicate and soft as the morning light. Yet her gaze pierced right through me, quite literally stopping time. It’s moments like these that will last forever. Moments like these that tell me it’s all going to be okay 🧡

I wait, hope and cross my fingers for this very moment every year, and so far I've been lucky enough to experience it. 3:40AM alarm, peaceful kayak out on Echo Lake in Acadia National Park. All alone... until this beautiful pair and I meet up for a sunrise float. I am so thankful. Be prepared for a billion more photos 🖤

Okay, usually Kingfishers are my arch-nemesis. But, phunts61 and I had a fun adventure paddling around Swans Island in the dingy 🛶 ..and were lucky enough to find this family! Mom and dad were hunting, and yelling at us of course as we paddled by.. only to realize they had two juveniles.
