Go to my new linktree (link in comments) for ways to support indigenous producers, history lessons, and podcasts featuring indigenous voices. My goal is to grow this list of resources over time, but its a start.
On this day I have always practiced gratitude. Today I am grateful to learn and be better each day as I become more aware of the importance of decolonizing my mindset, identifying the lies our society has told us about our history, rewriting a new story that elevates the voices of marginalized people, and recognize the longstanding truth that is held by the people who’s land we live on. I live on Clackamas Chinookan land. This land was stolen and colonized but it is still Clackamas Chinookan land. The nearby village of Canemah (which comes from the word meaning canoe) may be gone, but the Clackamas and Chinookan peoples still live. The tribes are here now and I want to do what I can to elevate Indigenous voices.
I thought about some Indigenous people and groups that I have found and follow, but I am learning that can have the negative effect of putting the burden of education on Indigenous people, and also possibly driving negative attention to their online spaces.
So here is my intention:
1) Be accountable for my own learning by doing my own research and intentionally cultivating my social media space.
2) Know who’s land I live on and learn their story.
3) Elevate Indigenous voices through conversation and mindful sharing. Name my sources and ask permission.
4) Research my own history. We were all indigenous once, it’s just that many of us are so far removed in time and place from our own indigenous ancestors that we have forgotten, and become the colonizers who ripped us from our relationship with the land and community.
4) Do not appropriate or homogenize native cultures. There are thousands of native cultures in what is now the americas, they are unique and every person has their own unique story.
I have started a linktree in the comments below to share some resources and indigenous voices. If I am sharing an individual person or business I have asked permission. The other links are to public information and podcasts that are widely available.

The raffle is finished, the winner has been notified, and we are over the moon with gratitude for all the amazing support from our community! Together we took a basket of vegetables and turned it into $835 for my amazing friend and her much needed spinal surgery! That is the magic of community. Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets or who shared or reposted or donated. You are the BEST!! Thank you especially to and for helping us host this raffle.
This experience has me thinking about abundance. We may not always feel abundant but there is always something we have enough of to share, whether it’s money or time, enthusiasm, muscle power, vegetables, creativity. When the world tells you you’re not enough, tell the world to shut the F #£|%! up, find something you do have and share it. Abundance isn’t something we have, it’s a practice. It’s something we create, something we decide. Thank you everyone for sharing what you have and when you find yourself in need, remember how good it feels to give and let your community give back to you. You deserve it. Xoxo

I am hosting a RAFFLE in support of a dear friend of mine who needs spinal surgery. I have known Domenika, for many years and she is a hard working, authentic, kind, compassionate human being. For 2.5 years she has been dealing with two herniated discs in her spine and a compromised cervical joint that have given her chronic migraines and made it impossible for her to continue her massage practice. She has looked into many non-surgical options and none have worked. Now her injury is degenerating and she needs surgery, but the surgery is not covered by her insurance and she needs $68,000 to get this treatment that will allow her to live her life again.
I am raffling off a $50 Fall Farm Basket to raise money for her. The drawing will be next Monday, October 25th and I will make arrangements to deliver the basket to the winner sometime that week. YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN 20 MILES OF OREGON CITY TO PARTICIPATE IN RAFFLE. Tickets are $5 each or 5 tickets for $20. You can venmo me . In the comments please include your name if it's different from your venmo name, your contact info if I don’t have it, and the number of tickets you would like. Please venmo me by the end of the day on the 25th to be included in the raffle.
If you want to support but don't want to be in the raffle or live too far away, you can click on the link in the comments and donate directly to Domenika's gofundme page.
Thank you for your time and please pass this along to anyone you think might be interested. Every little bit helps. Domenika is a light in our community but she needs her community to help her shine brightly again.
