Training at small (& empty) playgrounds is one of my favorite go-tos for a training outing.

When training a dog, I focus on success vs rapid progression.

While it is tempting to go straight into a busy, dog-friendly store, most dogs are not immediately ready for that environment. You must generalize your commands (aka practice in all sorts of places) to strengthen them.

First, I start inside. Does the dog understand the behavior, no matter what room we are in? Great! Now, can the dog do the same behavior in the backyard? What about the front yard? If the dog is consistently successful at this level, I will start going on training outings.

My training outings are short to keep them successful. I do my best to pick low traffic areas, before working the dog up to busier and busier places.

Setting your dog up for success will lead to rapid progression. Skipping several steps and hoping for the best will lead to stress and frustration, rather than rapid progression. Slow and steady wins the race!

All smiles for private lessons over here! 😄

Owner Education has become one of my favorite parts about dog training. As you gain confidence and understanding in dog training, you will be setting both you and your dog up for a lifetime of success.

Dogs deserve structure, feedback, leadership, and love. In fact, they thrive off of it. I know you have what it takes to be an incredible dog parent - because you already are! But… that doesn’t you have to face your struggles alone.

We are here for you, and would love to help you life the life you and your dog deserve.

As a reminder, we now offer overnight boarding in the comfort of my own home. Skip the stress of big facilities. Your dog deserves to have a holiday vacation of their own. Don’t wait until the last second to book!

Meet Willow! Willow is a 5 month old Goldendoodle ✨

Willow is here for a few weeks to help her become a great family pup.

Together, we are working on:
• Confidence Building
• Socialization and Exposure
• Impulse Control
• Intro to Basic Obeidence
• Intro to Grooming Skills
• and more!

Willow has a lot of energy and personality to follow, which has made her a blast to work with so far. Puppies are my favorite to work with because they are like little sponges 🧽

….However, they don’t absorb *only* the good habits. It’s up to us to teach them right from wrong.

Willow lives with a family with young kids. Right now, she loves to play rough by mouthing, biting, and jumping. As you can imagine, these aren’t desired behaviors - especially with young kids around.

I know training a puppy can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. Owning a puppy should be fun and rewarding. You deserve to have the adventure buddy you were wanting when you first got your dog.

Say Hi to Willow and follow her along to become a well-mannered family pup over the next few weeks! 💕
