I was laying in bed last night thinking about this great story I wanted to use in my post today. I had it all mapped out in my brain and I knew exactly how I was going to tie it into today's post. But I didn’t write it down. So when I woke up this morning, I couldn’t for the life of me remember what it was I wanted to talk about. 🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️🤦♀️
So today, this post is a much needed reminder for me, and a great step two in our caption series!
WRITE DOWN YOUR IDEAS.
Do any of you draw a blank when it’s time to sit down and create a post? It’s because most of the time our best ideas come to us randomly, not when we are trying to force it. So when inspiration strikes, you need to write down the idea to use later! Don't let a good idea pass you by because you are out at dinner or going to bed like I was. I keep an ongoing note on my phone where I can add bits and pieces to use for your posts later. A lot of the time I don’t use everything I write down, but having it there lets me sort through my thoughts and use the best pieces of content I have. It also leaves content topics for you if you ever want to revisit something later.

I bet if I asked you right now, you could tell me one or two of your business competitors that you have. Almost all of the companies I have worked with or for in the past have always known exactly who their competitors are, the quality of their product, and what they offer.
Today I'm kicking off the caption series with my first hack to writing a good caption!
Think about your competitors and their marketing. Is there something that they are doing that you wish you were better at? Maybe they get more comments on their posts than you do, or they have more page likes. These are things that you can have too!
To get started, I want you to find 6-8 Instagram pages that you love. Look for accounts that get great engagement, have awesome posts, and inspire you to have a better page. And then follow them. Yes, this can even be a competitors page. Following other businesses is a great way to see what does and doesn't work. After you follow these pages, look through their profile and find the posts that get higher engagement and more likes. Notice what kind of pictures they are using and what their captions say. Once you find them, recreate them! We already know those posts are doing well, which takes the guesswork and stress out of producing a good caption or post.
After that you can try recreating all different kinds of posts to see what works best for your business. If you notice one thing might not be working as well, then try another! Marketing is all about trying and retrying to find the best results for you.

Are you living your best caption life yet!?
If you missed yesterday's post I talked all about telling stories and why they are a huge component in building your brand. I believe there are a lot of great ways to write a good caption and so I am excited to announce I will be starting a small series on my process for writing a good one! I will be posting the steps I use when putting together a new post and what can determine if your post ends up being a win or a fail.
Stay tuned!

I love the App! It makes managing your business soooo much easier. A few reasons why you should download it right now:
1. It's FREE.

3. You can answer questions and respond to messages from clients immediately. Boost your response times!
4. Quickly make updates to your business details, such as your phone number, address, and operating hours. (A great feature to have, especially during Covid-19!)
5. Share updates and photos about your business, events and special offers.
Let me know if you decide to give the app a try 😃
