Over the past several years working with families navigating school challenges, one pattern shows up again and again.

Students who are:

• bright
• capable
• verbally strong
• curious and engaged in conversation

Yet they struggle to manage school.

Assignments slip through the cracks.
Projects pile up.
Work starts late at night.
Parents become the “reminder system.”

This isn’t usually about intelligence or motivation.

More often, it’s about executive function — the systems students use to plan, organize, and follow through on their work.

The challenge is that most schools assume these skills are already in place.

Many students were never actually taught them.

More soon.

Feel like something's missing?

If your middle or high schooler is smart, but:

• Can't remember instructions and ignores grading rubrics
• Forgets to submit assignments
• Fails to double-check work
• Does not write down test dates
• Procrastinates until the last minute and spirals

This is not a motivation problem.

It’s an executive function problem.

And most schools don’t explicitly teach these skills.

Something new is coming soon for families dealing with this.
