Suspended Commissioner Regina Hill Cries Fraud After 20-Point Loss — Now She’s Suing the Canvassing Board

In a move only the most optimistic PR team would call “bold,” suspended Orlando Commissioner Regina I. Hill is dragging the Orange County Canvassing Board into court after getting blown out in the District 5 election.

Hill lost by nearly 21 points — 51.8% to 32.7% — a margin so wide it doesn’t require a recount, a microscope, or even reading glasses. But instead of accepting reality like an adult in public office, Hill is doubling down and alleging “widespread fraud.”

There’s just one problem:
She has zero evidence.

Hill claims illegal ballot harvesting, improper voter solicitation, and mishandled mail ballots — but what she’s produced so far wouldn’t survive a middle-school debate team. A single sworn statement from someone who “thought they saw something.” Nothing concrete. Nothing actionable. Nothing remotely close to the burden of proof required to overturn a certified election.

But that hasn’t slowed her down.

Hill stormed into the canvassing board meeting insisting the race “was not fair,” demanded a recount Florida law doesn’t allow, and spent hours at the Supervisor of Elections office playing amateur handwriting analyst. When certification made the results official, she immediately announced a lawsuit — which now forces the canvassing board to lawyer up using taxpayer money.

And yes — District 5 residents are paying for this circus again.

A Reminder: Hill Isn’t Suspended for Being Late to a Meeting

Hill’s attempt to claw her way back into office happens under the shadow of a brutal criminal case.

She’s currently facing seven felony charges, including:
• Exploitation of a 96-year-old woman
• Fraudulent use of personal identification
• Scheming to defraud
• Mortgage fraud

Investigators say Hill used her elderly constituent’s trust — and finances — as her personal ATM:
• Over $100,000 allegedly spent on herself
• A $400,000 home signed using the victim’s information
• Luxury purchases, beauty treatments, a facelift, Miami trips, IV drips, dental work
• And even moving into a second home owned by the victim’s family rent-free

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement put it bluntly:

“Mrs. Hill betrayed the trust of her community by taking advantage of a 96-year-old… manipulated, lied, misused, abused… Obviously extremely tragic.”

Governor Ron DeSantis suspended her on April 1, 2024 — a decisive move supported by a thick stack of evidence and a grand jury indictment.

Hill maintains her innocence and awaits trial, but legally and ethically, she’s benched.

Taxpayers Already Paid for Her First Mess — Now They’re Paying Again

Hill’s suspension triggered a $32,000 special election last year — money the city hadn’t budgeted and never should’ve had to spend.

Now, because she refuses to accept a 20-point loss, taxpayers will foot the bill for:
• County attorneys
• Staff time
• Court responses
• Potential appeals

All because Hill insists she didn’t lose — even though she did… by a landslide.

And the Irony? She’s Accusing “Improper Solicitation” While Holding Free Fish Fries

Let’s not skip past the most on-brand twist in Orlando politics:

This is the same Regina Hill who’s been hosting free community fish fries plastered with “Re-Elect Regina Hill” branding to woo voters.

So yes — the candidate handing out free fried catfish as campaign outreach is now accusing others of “illegally influencing voters.”

That’s the dictionary definition of the pot calling the kettle black.

Where This Goes Next

Shan Rose, who actually won, has taken the high road — thanking voters, congratulating her opponents, and staying focused on governing. Meanwhile, Hill is choosing litigation over leadership, chaos over closure, and spectacle over service.

District 5 deserves better than a suspended commissioner litigating her way through reality.

The voters already gave their answer.
Hill just didn’t like it.

Orlando, FL — Commissioner Shan Rose has officially qualified to run for re-election in Orlando’s District 5, announcing her campaign with a call for unity, accountability, and continued progress.

“This isn’t about one person. It’s about all of us,” Rose said in her campaign announcement. “District 5 deserves safer streets, affordable homes, better sidewalks, stronger educational support, and services that actually work.”

Rose, who has served District 5 as Commissioner, framed her re-election bid as a community-driven effort. Her campaign priorities focus on bridging gaps and building connections — not just in infrastructure, but also in civic trust.

On her campaign website, vote4shan.com, Rose outlines her vision grounded in equality, professionalism, and being a champion for the people of District 5. She emphasized that her campaign is as much about listening as it is about leading:

“What’s bugging you? What’s making life better? I want to hear it. My campaign is open for all opinions.”

Community Engagement at the Core

Rose is encouraging residents to join the campaign through grassroots participation:

Spreading the word by sharing with neighbors, posting on social media, or displaying yard signs.
Volunteering time — from knocking on doors to helping at events.
Staying engaged by following campaign updates on Facebook, Instagram, and X, or signing up for her newsletter.
Sharing ideas and feedback to ensure the campaign reflects the community’s priorities.
Her message underscores collaboration over politics-as-usual: “We are building bridges. Closing gaps. It’s not just a political campaign — it’s about service, accountability, and unity.”

As the race for District 5 heats up, Rose says she is determined to deliver “quality leadership that listens and leads.”

With her qualification now official, the campaign shifts into high gear — and Rose is betting on grassroots energy to drive momentum through Election Day.

🇮🇱 In Solidarity with Israel: Precision and Resolve in the Face of Threats

Today, Israel executed a decisive and highly targeted airstrike against Iran’s state media headquarters during a live broadcast—an operation captured in shocking on-air footage. The Israel Defense Forces have confirmed the site was being used as a military communications hub under the guise of a civilian broadcast studio .

This strike demonstrates Israel’s commitment to dismantling Iran’s nuclear and missile program while avoiding unnecessary harm to civilians. Thousands in Tehran were evacuated ahead of the attack, including the area surrounding the state TV station . It’s a clear signal: Israel will not stand idly by as Iran’s regime broadcasts propaganda meant to threaten regional stability.

Tragically, casualties have occurred on both sides, but Israel’s calibrated response aims to avoid a larger conflagration. Meanwhile, Iran continues launching missiles at Israeli towns—most recently killing 8 people and injuring hundreds—leading to Israel’s justified military response .

➡️ Why this matters for Orlando—and for America:
• Israel is defending not only its people, but the international order against the rise of nuclear-arming rogue states.
• The U.S. government has emphasized Israel’s right to self‑defense and has stepped in to protect civilians and regional stability .
• In the fight against terrorism and authoritarianism, Israel stands at the forefront of protecting democratic ideals.

Let Orlando Political Observer readers stand with Israel: Support their right to respond swiftly and accurately to existential threats. True peace and security can only be built on deterrence and defense—not appeasement.
