The kindness of children: A story about Ruby McCurdy

So often, what looks like an ordinary day, the Lord turns into an extraordinary day with one seemingly simple moment. Today was a day like that when 8-year-old Ruby McCurdy stopped in at the Landings building with her dad to bring the proceeds from a lemonade stand that she had. Her dad said it was her idea to donate the proceeds to senior living here at the Haven. As you see, she has an “official” brochure that was given to the Foundation along with her donation of $186.91. Ruby and her dad also stopped in our dining room, and she introduced herself to the few residents who were still there after lunch. Staff member, Deborah Jones even introduced her to Chef Eddy who asked her for her lemonade recipe!
Our sincere thanks to sweet Ruby and her family and to Webb’s Honey! Ruby and her mom went to Webb’s Honey in Orlando and Ruby prepared a whole speech asking if they might help sponsor her with a gift of honey for her famous lemonade. They said yes, (but then who could say no to this adorable 8-year-old!), so Webb’s honey is a part of Ruby’s extra special lemonade as well!
Thank you, Ruby, for all your hard work! You are certainly a “honey” of a young lady with a very sweet heart!
