We are planning our first event back for the new year. But till then, we want to share a little devotional with you today. Hope this can be a blessing to you. Remember God is in Control of you will let Him Work.
Men’s Devotional: Trusting God and Letting Him Work
Scripture: Proverbs 16:9
“In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.”
As men, we’re wired to take action, solve problems, and make things happen. But sometimes, our determination to control outcomes can become the very obstacle preventing God from fully working in our lives. Trusting God means letting go of our plans, desires, and timelines so that His perfect will can unfold.
1. Let Go of Control
The hardest part of trusting God is releasing control. We want to fix things now, our way. Yet, Isaiah 55:8-9 reminds us, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways.” God’s perspective is higher, His plan better, and His timing perfect. Letting go doesn’t mean doing nothing; it means aligning your efforts with His will instead of forcing your own way.
2. Recognize God’s Sovereignty
When you trust God, you acknowledge that He is sovereign over every area of your life—your work, relationships, health, and future. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still, and know that I am God.” Being still doesn’t mean inactivity; it means surrendering your will to the One who knows what’s best.
3. Stay Faithful in the Waiting
Trusting God doesn’t mean passivity; it means faithful obedience while waiting for Him to move. Galatians 6:9 encourages us: “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Keep doing what God has called you to do, but don’t rush His process.
4. Stop Getting in God’s Way
Sometimes we unintentionally hinder God by trying to take over. Like Abraham and Sarah, who tried to force God’s promise of a son by their own means (Genesis 16), our impatience can lead to unnecessary struggles. Trust means allowing God to move in His way, even when it doesn’t make sense to us.
Prayer:
Father, I confess that I often try to control situations instead of trusting You fully. Help me to let go of my desire to force outcomes and instead rely on Your wisdom and timing. Teach me to be patient, to stay faithful, and to trust that You are working for my good and Your glory. May I not get in Your way but live in surrender to Your will. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection Questions:
• What areas of your life are you trying to control instead of trusting God?
• How can you actively step aside and allow God to work in His way?
Action Step:
Identify one specific area where you’ve been striving for control. Take a tangible step to surrender it to God—whether through prayer, seeking accountability, or letting go of unrealistic expectations. Trust that He will establish your steps.
