As we all know, working smoke alarms save lives! But people who are deaf or hard of hearing may not be able to rely upon the typical smoke alarm to alert them to a fire.

For the hearing-impaired, a device that uses a loud, variable, low-pitched sound can wake them. Also, a pillow alarm or bed shaker may wake them effectively. These devices are triggered by the standard sound of a smoke alarm.

(NOTE: For everyone’s safety, be sure to choose products made by a recognized testing laboratory.)

We are closing in on our summer Blood Drive with the American Red Cross, and the schedule is starting to fill up—but we still have empty slots to fill!
