Great Program to honor veterans.

The Owosso Musicale presents 🗣 the 126 Army Band 🥁 in a special appearance at the McCurdy Park Community Center this Sunday, November 7th at 2pm……

Francis “Bus” Spaniola will be the master of the ceremony. Mr. Spaniola served in the Michigan House of Representatives longer than any other democrat or republican in Michigan history and a commissioned officer in the U.S. Army. 🤩

The band will be performing patriotic music in honor of Veterans Day. 🇺🇸The 126 Army Band provides musical 🎶 support to strengthen the ties between the Army and civilian populations at home and abroad. Known The Governor’s Own 126 Army Band, the band remains one of the nation's finest military bands. The group is assigned to the Michigan National Guard Headquarters in Lansing and is stationed at the Grand Valley Armory in Grand Rapids.

The 126th Army Band is not made up of full time soldiers. They are all citizen soldiers, whose full time occupations fill nearly every niche in society. They have a three-fold mission:

1.First is to serve the military for ceremonies and parades and entertain troops at the pleasure of our Adjutant General and our Governor.

2.The second mission is to perform for civilian events to entertain the people of our Great State of Michigan.

3.The third mission for which they train, is that of Force Protection.

For more than 50 years, the 126 Army Band has performed throughout Michigan and the world, bringing the Army's fine musical traditions and goodwill to thousands.

The tradition of military music in the Michigan National Guard dates back to colonial militia units at Michigan’s frontier forts. Colonial regiments stationed at Fort Detroit, Fort Mackinac and Fort Michilimackinac all employed drummers, fifers or buglers as signal musicians as early as the 18th century.

THIS A FREE EVENT!! There is no cost for this performance, however, donations are accepted.

NOTE: Masks 😷 are required regardless of vaccination status.
