Leilani did a great job on her first sewing project! 🧵✨

She learned how to mark seam allowances, stitch straight lines (as straight as possible 😊), and one very important skill, backstitching.

The original plan was to make a zipper pouch, but she worked so efficiently that she had time to make a matching scrunchie too!

A zipper pouch and a scrunchie in a 3-hour class—I'd call that a successful sewing day! 💙

Let's welcome Leilani to my ongoing sewing lessons! 🧵✨

These are biweekly 2-hour classes held on Saturdays. Leilani is my youngest student, and yesterday she learned how to cut fabric, measure seam allowances, and place pins to hold two pieces of fabric together (she said that part was easy 😊).

She also learned how to properly use a sewing machine. There were many new skills and steps she was learning for the first time, and the best way to build muscle memory is through practice and repetition.

That's one of the reasons ongoing lessons are so valuable—they give students the opportunity to build confidence and strengthen their skills over time. 💛

Today, Alyssa learned how to use a sewing machine, read a pattern, cut fabric, and follow step-by-step instructions to complete her very first sewing project! 🧵✨

She even learned how to add an appliqué to her tote bag, making it uniquely hers. 👜💛

She did a fantastic job in her first sewing class, and I can't wait to see what she creates next!
