U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS), in coordination with ICE and CBP, announced a limited-time holiday promotion on December 22, 2025, increasing the incentive for voluntary self-deportation.

Eligible undocumented immigrants who register through the CBP Home mobile app and depart the U.S. by December 31, 2025, can receive:

- A $3,000 stipend (tripled from the standard $1,000 "exit bonus").
- Free airfare to their home country (or another accepting country).
- Waiver of certain civil fines/penalties for unlawful presence.
- Temporary deprioritization for ICE enforcement while preparing to leave.

This is part of the ongoing "Project Homecoming" voluntary departure program, aimed at reducing enforcement costs (estimated at ~$17,000 per forced removal vs. cheaper voluntary options). DHS reports ~1.9 million voluntary departures since January 2025, with tens of thousands using the app.
