π EMT Training Tip of the Week β Spinal Motion Restriction
𦴠Protect the spine. Protect the future.
After a serious fall or vehicle crash, EMTs carefully assess whether a patient may have a spinal injury.
When needed, EMTs use specialized equipment and techniques to help limit movement during transport and reduce the risk of further injury.
Every patient is carefully evaluated because not every injury requires a backboardβbut every spinal injury deserves careful assessment.
π¨ EMTs make critical decisions that help protect patients from further harm.

π EMT Training Tip of the Week β Bleeding Control
π©Έ Not all bleeding is the same.
One of the first priorities for an EMT is controlling severe bleeding.
EMTs are trained to:
β
Apply direct pressure
β
Use pressure dressings
β
Apply tourniquets when life-threatening bleeding can't be controlled
Quick action can save a lifeβsometimes in just minutes.
π¨ Stopping the bleeding is often the first step to saving the patient.

π EMT Training Tip of the Week
One of the first things an EMT checks is a patient's pulse.
A pulse tells EMTs:
β€οΈ How fast the heart is beating
β€οΈ How strong it is
β€οΈ Whether it's regular or irregular
These clues help EMTs identify medical emergencies and guide treatment decisions.
π¨ Every beat tells a story.
