The Eid is already here, and I find myself unable to celebrate the holiday.
Not because I don’t understand the meaning of Eid…But because I do.
Eid is meant to be a moment of peace, gratitude, and shared joy.
But what does that mean… when innocent people are being slaughtered every single day?
What does celebration look like… while children are freezing, starving, and dying under oppression?
I’ve asked myself, honestly:
What is there to celebrate?
With what heart can I pretend everything is normal?
With what face do I stand before my Creator and say I celebrated… while others were buried?
I couldn’t find an answer I could live with.
So this year, I chose not to celebrate.
Not out of anger.
Not out of judgment toward anyone who will.
But out of alignment with what I believe, and what I feel is right.
To those who are celebrating — I genuinely pray for you:
May Allah bless you and your families.
May your homes be filled with peace, safety, and real happiness.
But as for me…
I will sit with this reality.
I will not disconnect from it.
I will honor those who have been lost, and stand—however quietly—with those who have been left with nothing.
I may not have the power to stop what’s happening. But I refuse to become numb to it.
In a world that rewards distraction and surface-level living,
This is my Vantage Point.
This is my voice.
This is my truth.
And I will not fake celebration while my conscience is wide awake.
Especially while Al-Aqsa Mosque remains under siege.
