Matt Thornton was once a manic depressive, suicidal, sinful police officer. On the verge of ending it all, one night on duty changed his life forever. Thornton is now a living testimony and advocate for the need of mental health and training within law enforcement. He is the founder of an outreach program titled, “My Father’s Business” (MFB) where he targets youth with lives similar to his. His goal- to save youth in Illinois that are at risk, fatherless, or involved in gangs. Thornton has managed to spread his message to millions, and has been featured on networks such as CBS, NBC, and ABC. In this interview, Nathan Daley discusses the intimate details of Thornton’s life and what ultimately led him to his calling.
