I hope y’all are having a great summer! I forgot to share this gem from Glow With What You Know! ❤️

The day had finally come. The day we had to say goodbye 😞
We had an "Aloha" (I told them it meant hello and goodbye) breakfast, did a beach solve, read a book about the beach, and one called "A Note from Your Teacher" that almost did me in.

Upon Haylen's request, we learned to do the Hula! Some of the boys were apprehensive at first (I showed them that men in Hawaii wear grass skirts) but warmed up to the idea and had fun with it! (Peep a video in the comments)

I know I have said it before, but thank you for sharing them with us. It hasn't always been a bed of roses in Room 605, but all of the learning growth (academically and socially) and the laughs have made it all worth any of the headaches.

Have THE BEST SUMMER and please know that once you are a part of our family, there is very little chance that you'll get rid of us and we will never stop being their cheerleaders!

Love to you all!

THE FLOOR IS LAVA!
After the Senior Walk, the "lava" was activated for our The Floor is Lava Math Solve! We had to safely stay on the grass/sand/magma or hop on the rocks in the lava to get to 10 different math obstacles. We composed and decomposed numbers, counted rocks and decided who had less and more, colored 2d and 3D shapes, wrote adjectives to describe the rocks and magma, and did ten frame addition.

Tomorrow is "Aloha" day. We will have a small breakfast together to say goodbye:( We will eat lunch at 10:05 and leave at 12:10. See them tomorrow!

Today, we discussed A LOT of the things we learned in Kindergarten! Elliot S. said, "This is a lot of stuff!" (and we weren't through) and there was a lot we didn't discuss. They put on their hard hats to protect our brain because it has all the knowledge they are taking to first grade! We discussed various things we learned in reading, writing, math, ss/science, and social emotional learning. Each time we put it in our "toolbox" of things we can take to first grade!

We also reviewed "ar" and did all things pirate. We made a "treasure box" with gold coin "ar" words. We read pirate books, (pirates say "ARRR") and made a pirate face and wrote "ar" words that we brainstormed about.

Yesterday, after graduation/awards, we had YES DAY! They were very reasonable in their requests.
We goi to :
eat candy
chew gum
take our shoes off
play in STEM all day
eat ice cream (bonus they got chocolate syrup and sprinkles)
get a stuffed animal
The only thing I had planned on doing was letting them eat in the classroom, but I had a meeting that ran into their lunchtime. Some of our friends left early yesterday so we postponed playing four corners until today so we could all play.

Tomorrow, the floor will be lava! (It won't activate until after the computer lab 🙂) They will have to solve math problems while avoiding the lava!

Thursday, we will have an "Aloha" (which also means goodbye 😞 ) themed breakfast and do a "Beach Solve." They are welcome to dress "beachy." We will be taking some "beach" pictures to get us ready for summer break. We will eat "lunch" on Thursday, but they do not need their backpacks.

We are still just spending our time together having fun in learning 🙂

Bittersweet day for sure! These little ones, Mrs. highlight, and I have become a BIG family ❤️It’s hard to let them go 🥺 The only thing that makes it bearable is that we know that they will make us, you, AND themselves proud in first grade by showing what they know!🎉

We have had a lot of fun in learning, got to just be little sometimes, and worked hard/played hard.

Thank you for sharing them with us! They are a great group of kids ❤️
