July Client Spotlight 💛 Meet Fynton

Fynton has been part of the Affinity Ranch community for over a year. His journey began in the Voices Unbridled program, and after seeing how much he enjoyed it, his family was thrilled when he was accepted into the Adaptive Horsemanship Program.

Though Fynton is nonverbal, he lights up when it’s time to ride Link. Together, they’ve formed a special partnership. Fynton has learned to give Link basic riding commands and even works on physical therapy exercises while in the saddle.

Link is the perfect horse for Fynton. Not only are they a great match in size, but Link’s patient and gentle nature allows Fynton to simply be himself. If Fynton becomes off balance, Link instinctively stops and waits until he is settled before continuing. Watching the trust between them has been incredible.

Fynton loves spending time with Link, but he enjoys his time with the volunteers and instructors just as much. Gary knows how much Fynton loves music and sings to him throughout each ride. Megan is always finding new, engaging ways to challenge him, and Phil is there to lead the way. Their kindness and dedication make every lesson something Fynton looks forward to.

His hour at Affinity Ranch is truly the highlight of his week. Adaptive Horsemanship has helped improve Fynton’s balance, strengthen his core, and build confidence. And when the weather is nice enough to ride the loop outside, there’s nowhere he’d rather be.

We are so grateful to have Fynton as part of our Affinity Ranch family and honored to be part of his journey. Thank you to the instructors, volunteers, staff, and horses who help make these special moments possible every week. 💛

🎉 Big News from Affinity Ranch!
We are honored to share that Affinity Ranch has been awarded a Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation Quality of Life Grant in the amount of $24,999 to improve accessibility for individuals living with paralysis.

This funding will support accessibility upgrades in Arena C, including:

• A new mechanical mounting lift
• Renovation of our existing ramp to bring it into ADA compliance
• Safer, more accessible entry and mounting for participants

For individuals living with paralysis, these upgrades represent more than facility improvements. The new lift and ADA-compliant ramp will remove barriers to participation, support safer mounting and transfers, and allow participants to spend more of their sessions focused on therapy.

As our Physical Therapist Assistant, Sarah Puckett, PTA, shares:

“These improvements will help remove barriers that can limit access to the therapeutic benefits of horseback riding. By improving accessibility, we’re creating opportunities for more individuals living with paralysis to experience greater independence, confidence, and connection through equine-assisted therapy.”

We are deeply grateful to the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation for investing in accessibility, independence, and our mission. Through this grant, Arena C will become a safer, more accessible space, helping ensure that more individuals living with paralysis can experience the healing power of equine-assisted services.
