Meet Louie!!
3 years old • 50 lbs • Corgi Mix
Louie is the sweetest little man you’ll ever meet… unless you’re a chicken. In that case, you should definitely keep your distance. Louie cannot live with chickens or livestock — he takes his “poultry patrol” duties a little too seriously.
This adorable, round, happy guy was one of the first pups to be fostered at the Penitentiary of New Mexico through Española Humane, the shelter he came from. Thanks to that experience, he’s picked up some manners and lots of confidence.
Louie is a goofy, lovable, fun-sized dude who will bring nonstop laughs and smiles to his new home. He’s also great with other dogs!
If you’re looking for a sweet, joyful companion with stubby legs and a big personality, Louie is your guy.

Mortgage paid?
Food in your fridge?
What better way to show how thankful you are this holiday season than to help the shelter that helps your community?!
If you live anywhere near Española, New Mexico, that need is especially urgent as they repair damage to their roof that prevents them from fully operating.
Here’s your sign to pick up a foster pup, no matter where you are, keep them warm and cozy, and help your shelter market them a bit by sharing them on social media, with your friends and family, and everyone in your neighborhood while you’re on walks!
It takes a village; be part of that village.
Española Humane to temporarily close animal shelter to address mold, replace roof The shelter is slated to reopen Dec. 9, though intake of new animals will remain suspended through Dec. 15 except for urgent public safety cases.

Charm was passed over last weekend… but this weekend, she’s available to be reserved — and she’s truly something special. 💛
At 4 months old, this 28lb Pit Bull/Foxhound mix is discovering the world for the first time. Coming from a hoarding situation with 33 other dogs, she didn’t know what a chew treat was, how to eat a peanut butter Kong, or that a pup cup is basically pure joy. Watching her experience these little firsts is unbelievably sweet — from gently tasting her first treats to excitedly trying to reach a water cup because she finally knows what fresh water is.
Even with her rough start, Charm walked into her foster home with an open heart. She made instant friends with the resident dogs, greets every person and pup like they’re already part of her story, and snuggles with her entire body until she’s completely melted into you. She sleeps peacefully through the night in her pen, takes herself outside using the doggie door, and has been accident-free from the moment she arrived. She also walks beautifully on leash and stays calm during meals with other dogs around her.
During the workday, she relaxes quietly in her kennel with her soft blankets and frozen peanut butter Kong. And with her pretty face markings, a touch of brindle on her back legs, and that adorable double broken (and since healed) tail that only adds to her charm, she’s as unique as her story.
Charm is the tender-hearted, joyful, resilient little soul who will make some lucky family feel complete. If you missed her last weekend, here’s your chance — she’s waiting to be reserved and ready to be loved. 💕

Let us remind you of Rowdy – the “not-so-rowdy” good boy! ✨
Don’t let the name fool you… this 9-month-old sweetheart is a pro snuggler who melts into his people after a good play session. He’s about 45lbs, has an unforgettable face, and his foster parents say he’s truly special.
Rowdy was held for a little while while some medical issues were sorted out — but he’s now got a clean bill of health and is officially ready to find his forever home! 🩺💛
✔ Fully potty trained✔ Sleeps through the night in his crate✔ Walks nicely on leash✔ Knows sit and wait✔ Shares toys and food like a gentleman✔ Loves brain games, walks, and ALL the toys✔ Good with other dogs, especially older and respectful ones
Rowdy would love a dog sibling, but he’d also be perfectly happy soaking up all the love as your one and only. Because he’s still working on not jumping when excited, a home with older kids would be ideal.
If Rowdy sounds like your perfect match, we’d love to introduce you! 💛
